Symptom

I run a website that sends emails to my domain from booking, order or contact forms. However, I do not receive these emails. I manage my domain emails with an external provider.

Cause

The server always tries to choose the shortest route to the destination. If you have activated the domain's e-mail service in your web space (default setting), the server tries to deliver all mails that your website sends to your own domain or mails that you send to your own domain via the outgoing mail server to your own local domain. You don't have any mailboxes there because you are using an external email provider for the domain. This is why the emails never reach your domain mailboxes.

Solution

So that your web space knows that it is not responsible for e-mails from its own domain, you can switch off the e-mail service of the web space. E-mails that your server processes for your domain will then be sent to your external provider.

1. Log into the webspace control panel.

2. Click on the “E-Mail” menu.

3. Click the “Email Settings” link on the right side of the page.

4. Check the box in front of the domain whose email service you want to switch off.

5. Click on the "Activate/deactivate services" button.

6. Select "Deactivate" from all selection lists. Then click on the "OK" button.
